The front cover has a number of stains and grime that shows on the light cover. The back cover has many stains as well. The spine has fade and wear, at top and especially at bottom of spine. Wear at all corners and edges. Binding is strong; the hinges uncracked and unbroken; some small separation between some of the signature sections. No names, marks, or writing. Pages are generally clean with occasional staining. The page edges are clean with some age yellowing. There is a frontispiece, four other sepia plates and 12 black and white illustrations throughout by J. Allen St. John. "W.F. Hall Printing Co." is imprinted at the bottom of the copyright page. The dust jacket isa nice facsimile. It is covered in a new Brodart protective sleeve. McClurg printed this 4 times (the 1st printing has orange covers; the remaining have green covers). Joe Lukes' bibliography on ERB's Grosset & Dunlap reprints identified 32 different reprints from 1921 - 1937. G&D reprinted this 3 times as a wartime edition from 1942 -1945.
