OK - back from the madness that was the Senator/Astronaut JOHN GLENN Estate Sale in Bethesda, MD, running Thurs 3/8 to Sun 3/11/2018. Helicopters overhead of us in line, news cameras all day, what fun. Prices were high, as expected, his flight jacket was $28,500, and was bought early by the Marine Corps Museum. His Breitling watch fetched $20k. Lets just say this was NOT CHEAP AT ALL and Holy Moondog Batman, I will never in my LIFE spend that much on a necktie again. Plain shuttle logo polo shirts were going for $400 each, and most of these were available to the public! I choose to buy NASA only items not available to the general public. For provenance, this IS featured in the photos of the sale (see estatesales dot net - John Glenn) and I was given a COA of all the pieces on one paper - I will include a copy. You can see video of the sale currently at NBC4 DC news, wtop local station, and other news. There was only one of these available at the estate sale. Here is a unique piece, - a long search before the sale of google images, worthpoint, past space auctions featured NOT ONE OF THESE, so that I know of, this is the first to hit the space market. I could find no photos of anyone at NASA, nor astronauts ever wearing one of these. I did find one mentioned in a private collection, so I know it is not a unique one-of-a-kind piece. read more
