Offeredis this lovely porcelain china figurine of an elegant lady wearing a green ballgown and placing a rose in her hair while gazing into a hand mirror. This piece was made in Milan, Italy, in the 1930s by Ceramiche e Gres D’Arte. The designer is master sculptor Guido Cacciapuoti. The sculpture measures 11.5 inches tall (29 cm). The width is 13 inches (33 cm) while the depth is 11.5 inches (29 cm). Cacciapuoti has depicted a lovely woman wearing a strapless gown with a rose at the bosom. The gown’s overskirt is lined with gold. The underskirt appears to be brocade with a floral pattern. The lady is sitting on a dressing stool which rests on a patterned rug with fringe. She holds a mirror in her hand, which allows her to assess the placement of the rose in her hair. She wears gold slippers. Her face is skillfully painted, showing the radiant beauty of her “porcelain” complexion. Her fingers are clearly articulated. The base of the figurine has a felt bottom to protect the surface where it is displayed. The sticker noting the maker is affixed to the felt. Another sticker apparently was attached to the back of her stool, but it has not survived. This piece is in very good condition for its years. No chips, cracks or repairs that we can see. Some wear on gold trim. The owner of the estate took very good care of this treasure. read more
