I just purchased a large service of IRON MOUNTAIN stoneware at a local estate here in Central Virginia. The dishes are in the "BLUE RIDGE" pattern, which features blue and black abstracts. The discontinued pattern was introduced in the 1960's by Nancy Lamb, the founder and creative director of Iron Mountain Potteries from 1965-1992. Many Iron Mountain patterns are named for geological and scenic areas near the North Carolina factory. This auction is for a PAIR of salad plates, but I do have 6 of these plates available, so you can purchase one pair or up to three pairs (6) in this Dutch auction. They are in very good condition, without chips, cracks or stains, but some do have rubs from stacking. Each piece is hand made and there is some variance in shading and design. The Blue Ridge pattern is one of three patterns that was hand dipped in glazes. This produced distinctive lines and triangles of color across the stoneware. This is heavy stoneware and all of the dishes are impressed on the bottoms with the Iron Mountain logo. The plates measure 8" in diameter at the rim. This PAIR of versatile plates would be a nice addition to any service of Iron Mountain Blue Ridge. I do have many other pieces of this pattern up for auction this week.
