This is one exquisite art glass tile from a remarkable collection of iridescent glass tiles, created by Louis Comfort Tiffany and manufactured by Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company, circa 1900. You are bidding on one single tile -- the one shown in the single-tile close-up photos. I have a collection of additional tiles (see photo). Others are listed separately and I will be listing more in the future. Tiffany Favrile Tiles in this style -- especially of this color and beauty -- are very hard to find. The tiles were some of the earliest glass items made by Tiffany Studios, as Louis Comfort Tiffany used them in his decorating business early on. Tiffany art glass tiles were made from around 1888 to 1900. Originally, these art glass tiles were used in fireplace surrounds and other architectural elements. This glass tile features an Arts and Crafts-style raised design in the center, framed by a square border. The glass is simply beautiful, with hues, swirls and mottling that showcase an impressive color range. Depending on the tile and lighting, colors can range from deep burgundy to fiery red-orange, with swirls or mottling of green to yellow.
