Offered are (2) Vintage International Harvester Medallions commemorating the invention of the Reaper by Cyrus Hall McCormick in 1831.The first medallion is a souvenir of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, Chicago. It is made of Aluminum. The obverse shows a likeness of C.H. McCormick with the slogan: The Sun Never Sets on the McCormick. The reverse shows a likeness of the reaper with the slogan: “Like McCormick machines, this medal combines extreme lightness with extreme strength.The second medallion is made of solid bronze and was issued in 1931 on the 100 year anniversary of the invention of the reaper. The obverse shows a likeness of C.H. McCormick, and the reverse a likeness of the reaper. It was “presented with the compliments of the International Harvester Company, chief inheritor of the inventor’s genius and trustee of his inspiring tradition of service to Agriculture”. Dimensions are: Aluminum 1-7/16” x 1/8” and Bronze 1-5/16” x 3/32”.
