Found in the basement of a long gone country grocery store is this nice full box of 12 Sierra ware cups and 12 saucers, One saucer has a small rim chip, the rest look great. Please see the photos for colors. These were made by Hazel Atlas to be used as a Advertising premium for Big Jo Flour. Buyer got a free cup and saucer with every 50 lb bag of Big Jo Flour they bought. 50 pounds is a lot of flour, would take most people many months to use that much, to get all 12 cups and saucers you needed to buy 600 lbs. Wow, I wonder how many of these sets were actually ever given away? A very neat collectible from back in the good old days of trading stamps and advertising gift premiums. I think these were made in the 1940s or early 50s., great addition to a country store , grocery advertising collection.
