This auction is for a rare "Abner Doubleday" SGA bobblehead.Abner Doubleday was sponsored by the City of Hagerstown and distributed to fans at a Hagerstown Suns baseball game. The Hagerstown Suns play in the South Atlantic League and are the Class "A" Affiliate of the Washington Nationals. On April 12, 1861, Abner Doubleday aimed and fired the first Union cannon in response to the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina. The was the start of the American Civil War. Abner Doubleday is probable more famous as the supposed inventor of the game of baseball. In 1839, Doubleday organized a baseball game in a cow pasture in Cooperstown, New York. Cooperstown, New York is now the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Abner Doubleday is in great condition but does not come with the original box . That is why it is not listed as new.Abner Doubleday will be carefully packed and fully insured.I am selling my entire bobblehead collection and I will be listing many other rare bobbleheads and banks, mainly mascots, in the upcoming weeks.
