1-5 of Six VOLUME set . 4to. 9 x 11.25 inches. Vol. 1, xi + [i] + 189 pp.; Vol. II, ix + [i] + 190-354 pp.; Vol. III, ix + [i] + 355-502 pp.; Vol. IV, [ix] + 164 pp.; Vol. V, ix + [1] + 167-334 pp.; Vol. VI, missing. Bound in green cloth, gilt with art nouveau style pictorial decoration. Foxing on first and last pages of the volumes and wear to spine and boards but still quite attractive. Volume one boards are the most worn. Illustrated by plates, including frontispieces, plans and black and white photographs, double page and coloured, by one folding table and by numerous text figures. A comprehensive and very well illustrated treatise on every aspect of designing and constructing family homes for the comfortably off. An earlier edition was published by Blackie in 1898-99 and again in 1901-1992.We found a full set to replace this one. Very enjoyable look into the past as is the case with all of the Gresham series.
