This is simply a fabulous early box. It has everything going for it. It is made of burl wood, I believe. Gorgeous, gorgeous patina. It has beautiful brass accents. It has the original worn velvet on the base. Has all the original blue silk inside. It is a great size, measuring 5 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches tall from the base to the top of the dome, by 3 1/2 inches deep. There are 2 crystal perfume bottles, that I cannot find any chips or flaws on. The one that has some remnants of perfume still in it, the glass stopper is stuck in it. I have not tried to soak it or get it out. The star carving on the base of the bottles is beautiful. Beautifully made and in great shape for its age. I guess it to be from 1850. There is no key. It does stand a little tall where the brass connects but the wood does not (see photo 1)- that space that you see in the photo does exist. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking.
