This listing is for my 2011 Gibson Midtown Standard with Bigsby in Faded Red. Full specs of the guitar at: /Products/Electric-Guitars/Designer/Gibson-USA/Midtown-Standard-with-Bigsby.aspx Some similarities to an ES335 but smaller, flat topped and made from a solid piece of mahogany hollowed out and topped with maple rather than a laminate body. Importantly, this is an early model - the date code (123111581) dates it to August 19th 2011. The significance of this is that this was before Gibson were raided and had some of their wood impounded. This means that this guitar has a much more desirable rosewood fretboard rather than the Richlite boards which are all that are available now. It is a great guitar, but I have just bought a Vox Virage II which covers the same ground - hence the sale. I have had the pickups replaced with a set of Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbucker pickups which are hand built exclusively for the UK market. Similar output to the original 57 classic / classic plus (which I don't still have). The pickups have been wired with a coil tap on the volume pot which taps both pickups for single coil like tones. The cheap capacitor has been changed for a Sprague film and foil one. I have also 'pimped' the guitar a bit as I didn't like the white plastic parts. I have added chrome straplock buttons, telecaster knobs and chrome pickup surrounds and removed the pickup selector ring and put a black switch tip on. I will include the original white parts plus wiring harness (with an orange drop cap). The guitar is in pretty much mint condition - I can't find a mark on it - it could just about pass for new. The black 'mark' under the neck pickup is part of the grain. Home use only - never gigged The neck is straight and true, truss rod works as it should, no signs of fretware. Comes with the original hard case as shown - in mint condition Happy to have the guitar viewed. Cash on collection or paypal are fine - will be well packed in proper guitar box for transport. When Seymour worked on those great old guitars for a client, he liked to rewind the pickups with 42-gauge plainenamel wire. He’d also insert sand-cast Alnico magnets with a better-balanced magnetic field, which made the B and high E sound as powerful as the other strings.
