For sale are 16 genuine 1st Issue revenue stamps issued by the US Internal Revenue in the mid 1860's. Issued to help pay for the costs of the Civil War efforts. The Commissioner of Internal Revenue issued a contract to Butler and Carpenter Company of Philadelphia for the manufacture of these stamps in August of 1862. Please note hand signed and stamped dated cancellations. Please note the neat Star punched cancellation on the 50 Cent Origin of Process stamp. Examples of the 25, 50, and 2 Cent varieties. All different. Expect some faults here, including clips, pulled perfs, thins, hinge remainders, and folds. I'll provide more photos if requested.
