This is a Fulper Pottery # 657 Squat Ovoid Jar. It is 6 inches tall, 9 inches in diameter and weighs just over 3 3/4 pounds on my scale. The jar was manufactured by the Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington and Trenton, New Jersey in 1916. The jar is finished in a high gloss Chinese Blue Flambe. The piece is marked on the bottom with the impressed die-stamped Fulper mark which appears to have been stamped by hand. The mark was used from 1916 to 1922 and was reserved for Fulper's more impressive pieces. The mark is pictured in "The Fulper Book" by John Hibel, Carole Goldman Hibel, Robert DeFalco & David Rago, at page 79, figure J. Also on the bottom is a paper label with the Fulper name and hand written the color Chinese Blue. The paper label is pictured in "The Fulper Book" at page 78, figure G. These paper labels were used from 1910 to 1916. Since the mark and the label overlap years only in 1916 that would appear to pin down the year of production. The jar is pictured In "The Fulper Book" at page 107. The jar is in excellent condition and I can find no crazing, chips, cracks or mold flaws.
