Up for auction is a very limited complete set of four from Philip R. Goodwin's "Lost Sculptures" collection, which includes Lynx, Sitting Bear, Mountain Lion, and Walking Bear, each with their own marble base and brass name plaque. "Philip R. Goodwin (1881-1935) developed a career as a talented painter and illustrator of wildlife and hunting scenes. He modeled these four animal sculptures in wax about 1909 after visiting with noted western artist Charles M. Russell in Montana. Goodwin kept the models in his studio, but did not cast them in bronze while he was alive. The sculptures remained unknown until a Goodwin relative discovered them in the artist's estate holdings after his passing and had them cast in a bronze edition about 1978 or 1979 by a collectors society based in Minneapolis, MN. This set was limited to 2002 editions, making this a very collectible set for Goodwin fans and collectors of wildlife alike."
