Miniature Pearlware Flow Blue Toy PlateASIATIC BIRDpossibly Charles Meigh, Staffordshire, England c. 1820This stunning miniature plate was originally part of an early childs or doll house dinner service. The tiny ironstone plate measures just under 3 inches in diameter with a gentle 10 panel rim, lushly decorated with dark flow blue, the image of Chinese or Asiatic bird -- a dove or pheasant -- sitting on the bough of a tree, with the blue ponding of pearlware. It would appear to date to c 1820 and has no maker's mark. Finished with a detailed bamboo border trim. The plate was finely potted with great attention to detail. The plate is in overall very good condition, as shown in the detailed photos. No chips, cracks or repairs. Typical minor imperfections original to the making...border smudge, glaze skips, kiln dust and the like. Age toning consistent with prior use. These flow blue miniature pieces (or perhaps doll dishes) are getting to be so hard to find in any condition. Sold as is, this pocket size work of art is a great example to add to your flow blue or childs miniature tableware collection. We offer a whimsical range of early miniature and children's transferware and have much more in stock. We are happy to combine shipping of multiple purchases. Please send us a message before the auction ends with any questions or if you
