CARNIVAL GLASS CLUBSOUVENIRSWOODSLAND PINEModern Fenton Favrene Blue Carnival Glass souvenir Bowl from the Woodsland World Wide Carnival Glass Association's (wwwcga) 2003 St. Louis convention, in excellent undamaged contemporary condition.The pattern 'Woodsland Pine' was designed by Glen Thistlewood, assisted by Fenton designer Jon Saffell, after Fenton's 'Pinecone' design proved unworkable. The exterior, originally Imperial's 'Open Rose' pattern, was replaced by a new design by Glen Thistlewood called 'Flowers of the World', which features Kansas Sunflowers (Kansas was the home of wwwcga) , separated by paneled Rosemary sprigs; Rosemary for remembrance of past members and friends. Fenton's Favrene is their unique version of two earlier glasses - Tiffany's Favrile and Steuben's Blue Aurene. Enticed by the silvery blue color found in these pieces, Frank M. Fenton worked to develop a similar color. A special reheating process was necessary to bring the pure Silver in the batch to the surface, creating a silvery layer on the outside of each piece, which was then iridized.
