The elegant New Era #4044 pattern was designed by Ron Irwin and produced by the A. H. Heisey & Co. from 1934 to 1957. The pattern was initially called Modern Line relating it to the art deco movement and was changed to New Era in 1935. The candle stick is 8 inches high and 6 inches wide at the top. The arms are in a u shape with a single raised paned running from the base up to each candleholder. The base is polygonal, 3 inches by 5 inches, with a single step, the bottom is ground and polished.The pointed short ends of he base are echoed in the rims of the candleholders , which are also six-sided. The candle holders themselves are square with a slight taper.. Ten 3 inch prisms are used on each bobeche. A similar candlestick was made by another company but it has a serrated base and the glass is not as good as that of the Heisey Candlestick. These are in very good condition, by feel several of the prisms have some flaking on the tips and the prisms have some discoloration. The candlesticks have no chips cracks or repairs. They are a splendid example of art deco glass of the 30's and 40's.
