Early Miniature Table Folkart/Primitives As those of you who have been following our auctions know, we are helping my grandmother find homes for the many dolls and related items she has acquired over the last 45 years. She and my grandfather are preparing to downsize as they are in their eighties. Her collections covers a broad spectrum of dolls and accessories from antique to contemporary, so we never know what we will come across. This small table for dolls (or possibly a small stool) was purchased at an estate sale in or near Lancaster, Pennsylvania on a weekend excursion about twenty years ago along with the doll it was photographed with. This auction is for the miniature table only. The doll will be listed in another auction. Although purchased together, our thoughts are that the table may date a little earlier than the doll, but we are not knowledgeable in this field of collecting. We will attempt to describe as best we can. The top and sides of the table appear to have been decorated using a type of stenciling technique. Top of table measures 10 1/4" wide by 14" long. Height measures 10". Corners are dovetailed (see pictures). This is a unique piece and may possibly be a one of a kind example of Folkart. A furniture dealer suggested to us that he thought it may date from the mid 1800's. We would be glad to hear from any experts
