MAGNIFICENT EARLY 2Oth CENTURY CUNARD LINE TEAK STEAMER CHAIR Circa 1910I am very pleased to offer a genuine Edwardian Teak Steamer Chair.Which once graced the deck of one of the Great Ocean Liners of THE CUNARD LINE FLEET of ocean liners. The steamer chair carries the Cunard name stamped into the back of the back rail. Later models carried labels. The seat is cane, again giving an indication that the chair pre-dates 1920. I have been told teak slatted seats as being more duarable replaced the early rattan ones by 1920. The previous owner at great expense replaced the original badly damaged cane seat section. The front right corner section of the back rail, displays for screw holes. A brass plaque would have once been attached here with a cabin number allocating the chair to a particular cabin. I have taken a picture of some of the bolts. All in keeping with the Edwardian period that the chair was made. The bolts holding the rattan seat section are replacements. Once the chair would have had a foot rest sadly it is missing. Someone has painted the chair a pastel green colour. Although not original it does look very nice and in good contrasts with the rattan seat. The chair remains very robust and fully usable with confidence. Please view pictures for cosmetic condition.
