Up for auction is this early whale oil lamp with pressed octagonal square base. Measures approximately 10 1/2" tall. It has a brass collar and a common wafer. Manufactured by Boston & Sandwich Co., in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Circa - 1830-1840. Listed and pictured in Ruth Webb Lee's Sandwich Glass Handbook. Plate 193. Pontil is not polished. Excellent to very good antique condition with some bubbles, straws, and some roughness on the bottom base (This is not uncommon for 1800's glass). I put some small green felt pads on the bottom to protect my cherry table for display. They easily can be removed if you like! This tall **ORIGINAL**FLINT**whale oil lamp is highly collectible.
