This is a beautiful Herman Miller Charles Eames Girrard design chair. This has been upholstered in a beautiful vintage Girrard style Charcoal Grey tweed twill .This is one of the last of a handful of identical shells weve have recently sold in the beautiful Charcoal material .In 1961 La Fonda Del Sol restaurant opened in the "Time Life" building in New York City. Everything was designed by Alexander Girard from the ashtrays to the taco holders including this co op with Charles Eames. They basically shortened the back of the chair to give it a sleek trim line style so the chairs could slide evenly under dining height tables. Lots of crazy colors were used in the restaurant and the furniture was upholstered in bright stripes with bright pinks, oranges and blues with complementing tableware that matched. The chair is in perfect shape and the back is a beautiful white color .The chair rests on a quality USA made rocker base that has been done in Vulcan Black powder coated satin finish. The runners are made of real custom hardwood that is cleared to a satin finish. These are really heavy and are not stained pine or cheap wood. Really clean. The chair really has a high class rich feel to it. This would be classy addition to any Mid Century modern home or office. Shipping $45.00 USA 60.00 Canada. International OK and quoted on an individual
