Auction Details I'm selling a big batch of vintage Disney items, many related to classic Disney films or Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and EPCOT --- check them out to fill in your collection! Here's a big batch of the rarely remembered Walt Disney Presents Uncle Remus and His Tales of Brer Rabbit newspaper comic strips. This weekly Sunday strip debuted in 1945 ahead of Disney's release of Song of the South. For each Sunday between 1946 and 1972, Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, and Brer Fox joined other characters in retelling of Uncle Remus stories drawn by Disney artist Paul Murry, with inking by Dick Moores and Bill Wright. The early strips were written by Bill Walsh, who later went on to produce Mary Poppins and countless other Disney classics after he moved into live-action work with the Mickey Mouse Club. The style evolved over the years, from the distinctive characters recognizable in the film to more of funny animal types of the Pogo Walt Kelly variety. The dated dialects also modernized over time --- it's a forgotten chapter of the Song of the South tie-in story!
