This auction is for a David Failing Original Remembrance Lithophane (Floral Image).A lithophane was used in the 17th & 18th centuries as a candle screen or window hanging. When lighted, an image appears.The artist, David Failing, creates these artworks, transferring the art / image to wax and then carving in reverse to make a master. The master wax then is used to make a mold to produce a porcelain lithophane. Electric lighting is used to show the intricate detail.The buyer will receive a limited edition loon lithophane, # 58 with 5,000 lithophanes of this image produced. The numbers are on the back of the lithophane. The size of the lithophane is 6.25 inches in diameter and it is about 3/32 inch thick. The base the lithophane is placed in is about 4.25 inches wide x 4 3/8 inches deep x 1.25 inches tall. It comes with a 40 watt bulb that is about 4 inches tall. The cord is about 8 feet with an off/on switch. The lithophane is brand new in its original box.The package will be mailed to a buyer with an address in the United States.
