Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "L.D. FUNKHOUSER & CO / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with flared base, decorated around the midsection with a series of swags and hanging flowers. Swag decoration flanking the spout. Dashed decoration to rim area. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A large area of restoration to left side of collar. Additional restored chips to rim, base, and underside. A tight 3 3/4" hairline to right side of collar. Restored handle. Short, faint lines to base, some sealed. H 12".
