First Half 20th CenturyHeight 68 1/2 x width 22 1/2 inches.Sold to Benefit the Acquisition Fund of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at NewfieldsNote that it is not entirely marble as originally catalogued; it is alabaster and marble. The yellow base and the yellow engaged columns of the pedestal are marble; everything else is carved alabaster. Overall intact and with all elements present, but needs work before it can stand on its own and support its own weight; would be easily knocked over in its present state. There is a metal rod that fits through the center of all parts, and it probably needs a different, stronger rod and additional hardware or glue assembly. Scratches and small chips / roughness to many of the edges, but no significant repairs or damage overall. Some glue residue is visible where the different parts were previously held together to stand. On the urn, one of the winged figures' heads has been glue repaired with a visible fracture. Small chip on the underside of one of the other figures; no other significant damage noted.
