CONFEDERATE C S SADDLE SHIELD, BRANDY STATION, JUNE 1863This Confederate cavalry saddle shield was found just east of Saint James Church on Saint James Road in the early 1960’s & is from the Battle ofBrandy Station, fought on June 9, 1863.I t is made of heavy cast brass, 1 1/16” x 1 5/8” with 3/8” C S cast in relief on the front & is in good excavated condition with a dark bronze patinaIt was in a small private museum on Fleetwood Hill that had a large collection of Brandy Station relics found over the years until the collection was sold off in 1982.It comes with a certificate of authenticity..
