CL iVE BOWEN Earthenware, studio pottery MED iEVAL LEAP iNG SALMON T iLE Interesting Cardew & Leach Connections. A signature piece of, hand made and wood fired, earthenware, slip glazed tile from that master of potters, Clive Bowen. Approx. 14.3cms. square. Frame-made in light red Fremington clay, with Clive's signature medieval/BL inspired leaping salmon, slip trailed in three colours. Finally coated with a clear ‘galena’ glaze to produce the deep gloss. So here's a fair opportunity to pick up a lovely example of the traditional design skills of a master potter whose work is in many national collections including the V&A. New condition, specifically commissioned. Structurally sound and potted in a rugged manner; that’s how Clive makes them. No damage and flat with no warping. No apologies for the price, that's what the very best costs. Clive trained with Michael Leach @ Yelland and spent some time with Michael Cardew @ Wenford before setting up his own pottery @ Shebbear. The exhibition catalogue is for illustrative purpose only and is not included within the sale. Please scroll to the end of the listing for additional photographs.
