This auction is for a large old Chinese porcelain lidded ginger jar with a large dragon chasing the flaming pearl in the clouds. The ginger jar & lid are a substantial size at 9 1/4" high and weighing 6 pounds 4.6 ounces (with the lid). The ground is white porcelain and there are many beautiful hues of blue on the ginger jar. The dragon winds around the ginger jar, sometimes hiding under the border at the top. There is a traditional Chinese border around the top and two blue rings around the base. The bottom is finished in white porcelain and is unmarked. The lid was on the jar when I purchased it many years ago but has a design of bamboo so it might not be original. I am uncertain of the age but the vase is certainly old and vintage.A large vintage wooden stand with a dark finish is included in the auction but is not original to the ginger jar. The round stand is substantial enough (over one pound in weight) to hold the weight of the ginger jar & lid nicely on display.I purchased the ginger jar & lid many years ago in California. It is in excellent vintage condition with expected wear. There are imperfections in the porcelain that occured in the making including glaze pops, pits and dark spots.
