Often tarnishing Charles Comiskey's status as the founding owner of the Chicago White Sox and catalyst behind the fabled Comiskey Park, the Hall of Fame executive's alleged frugal habits are cited as the indirect cause for the club's 1919 World Series disgrace. While some of those tales are apocryphal, Comiskey's exceedingly scarce autograph is a stark reality on this 1912 correspondence. Composed on a vintage 8-1/2 x 10-15/16" sheet of Chicago White Sox letterhead within a matted 16x13 display, the page is dated "June 4th 1912" and has a typewritten message conveying Comiskey's letter to a high school manager. In black-ink fountain pen, Comiskey (d.1931) has signed "Chas. A. Comiskey." The signature projects every bit of ("8-9") potency, with very slight ink migration preventing even higher assessment. With kindest personal regards and thanking you very kindly for your well wishes on behalf of the White Sox and myself, I am,Very sincerely yours
