The bed is known as the cannon ball style rope bed. It is constructed fromPoplar and Maple and is all the original wood. Steel angles have been addedto the side rails to support a modern day boxspring and mattress. Age isprobably back to the late 1800s. The headboard is cracked, but I still together. I will glue it tight before shipping. Other than that the bed is in great shape.Just a piece of trivia: The rope tended to stretch over time and had to betightened so that it didn't look like a padded hammock. The phrase "Sleeptight" was a wish that the bed ropes were tight; tby leading to a morecomfortable rest.
