For bid is an original circa 1920 portrait photographof the first-ever commissioner of baseball KENESAW MOUNTAIN LANDIS standing outdoors with a white panama hat on his head. Judge Landis had been named commissioner of baseball following the 1919 World Series “Black Sox” scandals when the Chicago White Sox threw the 1919 World Series to the Cincinnati Reds. The photo shows Judge Landis standing with a stern look on his face. He served as commissioner of baseball from November 1920 to November 1944, the date of his death. This is an original Bain News Service photograph with their purple stamp on the back. The photo has a long tear to the right side that slightly touches Judge Landis’ left shoulder. The photograph measures 7 by 5 inches. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
