Brilliant Cut Glass Antique Bowl Large Footed Harvard Very Fine QualityF ound in an antique mall recently, is this quite amazing antique fine quality footed cut glass bowl. The outsides of the octagon sided bowl has a very intense Harvard like motif cut by a master glass cutter.T he antique bowl was made and cut in the hay day of the American Brilliant Cut Glass period prior to 1915 when no amount of intense work was spared to create cut glass treasures as this bowl is.T he bowl is made from a heavy thick blank of fine quality brilliant crystal lead glass. Holding the heavy lead glass bowl with a Harvard like motif, one will find dozens and dozens of sharp points.T he cutter who created the motifs on this superlative cut glass bowl, had long experience creating cut glass treasures and was of master cutter caliber.T he maker's mark remains undiscovered. I have not been able to spot it. With luck, the new owners with time will find the maker's mark.T he bowl on it's four feet is 4 inches high to the top of the smooth rim. The octagon sided bowl is 7 1/4 inches wide.Condition :The bowl itself is in great condition without significant damage - no chips or cracks. If one wanted to spend a few hours inspecting sides and bottom of the bowl, one might find a few tiny bruises. I found no bruises on the sides nor bottom. On two or three of read more
