Bret Hayes ( English artist 1880 - 1940 ) seascape oil painting. ( not to be confused with contemporary Australian seascape artist Brett Hayes ) Bret Hayes only exhibited his paintings 1897 - 1900 and similar paintings to this sell for £500 - £700. Size 23 X 15.5 inches, Oil on canvas on board. This painting unlike the other similar one i have listed has slight damage. Down the right side there is some rippling to the canvas. This has resulted in a very small bit of paint loss in the dark surf below the seagulls lower right. Is only visable on close inspection.
