Up for bid are FIVE antique or vintage Japanese fishing floats made of hand blown glass and covered with rope netting. Each netted ball has an additional braided rope string attached in varying lengths from 15 to 19 inches long. (Great if you want to hang these as decor items!) Floats and buoys are now made from plastic, but earlier in history, before the invention of plastic, nets were kept afloat with these hollow glass balls which are bouyed with air. Who knows how many years (decades) these glass balls floated on ocean currents from Japan before reaching the coastline of Washington state? All are approximately the same size, about 3 inches in diameter, and in like shades of aqua blue/green. The netting has some sea-dirt and varying degrees of wear, the glass balls have some frosted areas and there are bubbles in the glass. There are two group shots and then 2 photos of each individual float. These are beautiful and historical collectible decor items. Please check out our other items .
