Very nice polished blue forest petrified wood slab with chunk of gold calcite. Nice chalcedony on edges and pronounced ring details. Measures about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and is 2 inches tall. Weighs 1 lb 7 ounces. Nicely polished on face, the reverse is rough and uncut - rests nicely angled on level surface. The overall composition on the polished face is very nice and balanced. Found in the vicinity of Eden Valley, Wyoming, blue forest is typically smaller than average petrified woods. A good, general limb size may be about 3 to 4 inches in diameter; some up to more than a foot in diameter; others as little as 1/2 an inch or less. Incredibly, it dates to about 50 million years ago!As the name suggests, the blue found in this petrified wood is common and varies greatly in both intensity and hue from piece to piece. Brown, green, dark blue to black are also common.The botryoidal features, chalcedony, and overall agate content produce an amazing array and assemblage of features.
