CHAPMAN WAS A 4X ALL-STAR, A 4X AL STOLEN BASE LEADER AND A MEMBER OF THE 1932 NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS. HE LATER MANAGED THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES FROM 1945-48. IT WAS WITH THE PHILLIES THAT HE TARNISHED FOREVER HIS PLAYING EXPLOITS BY TAUNTING JACKIE ROBINSON WITH RACIAL EPITHETS DURING THE 1947 SEASON. HE WAS FIRED BY THE PHILLIES AT THE END OF THE SEASON AND NEVER COACHED OR MANAGED AGAIN.
