A late 19th/early 20th century vintage (empty) tea canister tin with the four sides decorated with oriental scenes and an owl to the top of the hinged lid. There is a J.DAWSON & SON / GROCER TEA DEALER AND / WINE SPIRIT MERCHANTS / BARNARD CASTLE paper label to the underside of the lid with hand written message MRS.BROWN MICKLETON / WITH COMPLIMENTS & BEST WISHES FOR YOUR FUTURE WELFARE & HAPPINESS. Barnard Castle is a market town in Teesdale in County Durham in the North-East of England.Mickleton is a village near Middleton-in-Teesdale. One of a number of antique tins I have listed on eBay this week - wherever possible I will always pack multiple purchases (from same day auctions together) to reduce postage costs for buyers. SIZE: 4.1" (10.25 cms) x 4.1" (10.25 cms) x 6.5" (16.5 cms) high. CONDITION: Some wear (shown),associated with age and use. The pictures give a fair representation of condition.
