Rumors have circulated for years that superstitious distillers of illegal whiskey were hesitant to use jars marked with a #13 on the bottom. According to legend, the Moonshiners threw them away, or intentionally broke them, fearing their enterprise could otherwise be met with bad luck. It's also believed that superstitious housewives were also fearful of canning with the unlucky numbered jar, and they were subsequently destroyed or discarded, making the #13 Ball Jar RARE .This listing is for a set of 2 vintage BALL PERFECT MASON jars from 1910 - 1923 with the " Dropped A ". Both jars are a beautiful blue color and have heavy embossing . One is the UNLUCKY #13 and one is the LUCKY #7 (just in case the superstition has some truth to it). Both jars have original vintage zinc BALL lids with the porcelain inserts. These jars are immaculate. They almost both look like the day they were purchased with no damage or even scratches. They both have some tiny bubbles in the glass and some light whittling . Please see all photos as part of full description.
