Atterbury Milk Glass Rarest 6 Inch Rabbit C1890 Rarer than the rare nine-inch Rabbit, this six-inch Rabbit is another fine example of Atterbury & Company's product. Patented March 9, 1886 and periodically produced until their closing about 1899, we can easily confirm that this rabbit is over 107 years old. For further information see pages 19 and 20 in Yesterday's Milk Glass Today by Mary and Regis Ferson, which also contains a detailed history of Atterbury & Co. Also refer to page 191 of Milk Glass by E. M. Belknap. This neat little fellow measures almost 6 ½ inches long if you include his tail. He is 3 inches wide and 3 ½ high. For someone older than me he is in darn good shape. No major damage, but sporting a few chips and some flakes. One flake is at the end of his right ear, 1/8th of an inch; one on the base directly over the tail, about ¼ inch; a chip on the very end of the nose rim and corresponding small chips on the lid. Also found are really minor chips to the rims w the lid and base meet. Please see the pictures showing those I was able to capture on film. You will also notice some small remnants of paint on his body. The opening bid reflects the minor faults of this very scarce piece and t is no reserve.
