Arturo Toscanini, considered the greatest conductor of his era has wonderfully signed, dated and inscribed this 10 X 8 original black and white photograph “To Olga Theresa Worrall with all my good wishes Arturo Toscanini,” and dated “1944” in red fountain pen. The photograph is mounted to a 12 X 10 card. Before coming to the United States permanently in the late thirties, Toscanini served as the conductor for the Metropolitan Opera, New York and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Strongly opposed to Italian and German fascism, Toscanini left Europe for the United States where he became conductor of the NBC Symphony Orchestra which was founded for him. With his regular performance on national radio, Toscanini became the first “conducting superstar.”
