Offered is a bold and colorful original native female portrait by Alberto Ruiz Vela (1920-2006). Featured is a proud woman in her ethnic clothing. The painting is typical of Vela's style with its bold and bright brushwork. The painting is a thick gouache on board under glass. In excellent condition it is signed and dated 1992. Sight size is 16.75 x 24.75 inches and the custom frame is 25.75 x 33.75 inches.Alberto Vela was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States in 1952. Considered a Mexican-American artist, he eventually settled in Southern California. One of his teachers was Spainard Carlos Ruano Llopis.
