Art 2 Bas Relief Porcelain 18th Cent Figure Plaque A fantastic pair of vintage bas relief / three dimensional (3-D) framed porcelain plaques. A paper label affixed to the back reads "Alt Meissen Art" and a blue stamp indicates they were made in Bavaria, specifically, Sandizell, Germany. Each features a man and woman in a garden setting, each depicted in 18th century style clothing. A paper label on the back reads, "Scene from the Castle-Park of Sanssouci about 1750 - 1760; The pastoral plays, performed in the castle parks of the Rococo, were a favorite amusement for grandes Dames and Cavaliers. They were cultivated with spirit and charm and were part of the abundance of the Rococo and the Happy Century". Each sculpture is framed in a gold Gesso style frame with ornate scrolls and floral designs in each corner. Both are free of chips, cracks and breaks; frames show some surface wear.
