Armspear "1925" Lantern with iron ring around base. Lid has B.&O R.R. in circle on smoke dome. Armspear Mfg Co. New York "1925" around dome edge. Original clear Kopp globe has some cloudiness. Original pot and burner has surface rust, but no holes visible in fount. Wick and dry cotton waste inside fount.There are holes in the frame bottom as shown in photos. Lid and dome have small dents. Frame is straight and solid. Old rust damage evident on bottom wire and iron ring is worn away. Photos show condition.The iron ring on the bottom means the was used in locomotive service. The weight kept the lantern stable and upright. "1925" is not the date of manufacture, but rather the model. The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Railroad Lighting Vol1, by Richard Barrett, p.77 shows the lamp as ARM-11in the Armspear catalog and states that the weight was for locomotive service.Please see photos and feel free to ask questions.
