Wehave for your viewing and bidding pleasure an antique military collectible weapon. The item is a bayonet which is from WWI. We are not knowledgeable enough to know what country it originated from. The following information should help for those in “the know” of military weapons. On one side of the blade by the hilt it is stamped WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CIE (the IE has a dash line underneath) then SOLINGEN. The handle is wood in the center (which is stamped with the number 129 on each side on the wood). The metal at the back of the handle has a button and cut out space to slip on the end of a military rifle. This button is spring loaded and still works. On one side of the curved area which would be the metal hilt it is stamped with a written N and then 2180. From the tip of the blade to the hilt area it is 11 ¾” long. From the end of the blade to the end of the handle it is 17” long. At the widest part of the blade it is 1” wide. At the top of the blade by the hilt which is ¼” wide it is stamped with a B and then another symbol type letter above it. All of the bayonet has its natural aged metal patina with some rusting. The wood handle shows a little nicking damage from having been in the war. The bayonet scabbard has brass on each end and is leather wrapped in the center.
