Antique Wall Hung Floral Design Ivory Porcelain Match Safe HolderGreat antique porcelain match safe that would have been found in every kitchen at the turn of the century (and earlier). At a time when stoves were heated by gas and wood logs, matches were an essential kitchen tool. Hung on the wall to keep them convenient and safely out of reach from young hands, they were kept in metal and glass boxes with easy access openings. Designed with the Housewife's sense of style and kitchen decor, they were often elaborately decorated and colorful. This piece is modest, yet lovely with a conservative red and blue floral design. It measures 7" x 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4",It is in very good pre-owned condition, with age related wear and crazing.Please refer to all pictures as part of Description
