A wonderful piece of Americana : This little book opens out to a large handcolored map from the 1876 Philadelphia International Exposition for the USA centennial. The gilt lettered blindstamped front cover which says Wade's New Map of Philadelphia has become detached from the map itself and the back cover.. The map is still irmly attached to the back cover. Around the edges of the map are engravings of various buildings. The center shows the plan for the city of Philadelphia. The inside of the front cover has a small sticker with original owner's name in beautiful penmanship written with a quill pen. Folded up it measures 3 ,5" x 5.75 ". Open, it is about 22.5" square. It needs some repairs where it was folded. please email any questions.
