The necklace features beautiful Tahitian pearl and 14k yellow gold tube beads on a black silk string. The inclusion of such a unique and colorful stones in this necklace is an excellent example of the bold and creative styles of the Mid Century era, which saw jewelers create jewelry using unusual or uncommon stones, as well as incorporating new designs and re-purposing those from the past to craft entirely new pieces of jewelry .There are twelve Tahitian pearls strung on this necklace, all of which display a lustrous grey hue with intense peacock iridescence as light hits the stones at different angles. The pearls are off round and would have been polished and carefully drilled before being strung on the black silk string.Strung between each pearl is a unique yellow gold tube bead, which has a curving shape that would have been very fashionable during the Mid Century era. The long curving beads are textured to reflect lightly and contrast nicely against the cool hues of the Tahitian pearls. The necklace is completed with a yellow gold filigree fishhook clasp for comfortable and secure wear. When worn, the necklace sits at the collarbone on most people.
