Composed of 18k yellow gold, the pendant features beautiful jadeite jade, turquoise, and coral stones held within caged stone charms. The design of the pendant was inspired by ancient Etruscan jewelry, as was fashionable during this time period. Part of the larger Archaeological Revival movement, the Etruscan Revival began following the discovery of ancient Etruscan sites outside Rome in the 1830s. The pieces discovered at these sites were made of high purity gold and features intricate designs which would go on to influence jewelers for centuries to follow.The pendant consists of two 18k yellow gold charms, each of which features a caged stone design. Held within the yellow gold spheres are green jadeite jade, blue turquoise, and red coral stones, each of which would have been carved by hand and polished before being incorporated into the jewelry. The cages themselves are made entirely of yellow gold crafted into geometric patterns through which the stones can be seen, the intricacy of the patterns evoking ancient Etruscan jewelry designs.Each stone cage is attached to a long, cylindrical piece of yellow gold with a bale that attaches to a singular jump ring so the piece can be worn as a pendant on a necklace. Due to its small size, this piece can also be strung on a bracelet as a charm.
