The Art Deco Era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period.Precious coral is harvested almost exclusively in the Mediterranean off the coasts of Italy, France, Spain, Algeria, and Tunisia. Angelskin Coral has widely been valued as the rarest and most beautiful of all Coral types. During the Art Deco Period only the richest of the rich could afford to have this form of coral harvested and imported into Europe and North America.Chinese Export jewelry became popular during the late Victorian Period and lasted until the 1960's. In a lot of ways Chinese Export jewelry fashioned what we know of jewelry today. During these period's Chinese Craftsmen including Jewelers, Stone cutters were considered by far the best in the world.The rich and wealthy would have a piece custom ordered through their local jeweler whom was usually gifted at drawing a design to send off to contacts in China to craft and send back. As you can imagine, this was not cheap, that being said, these pieces are very rare and few have survived until today.The PieceThe Angelskin Coral in this piece is beautifully cabochon cut into a round shape and features a stunningly smooth polished surface. The Angelskin Coral show cases an absolutely gorgeous light pink color with beautiful striations of lighter pink and white throughout that create a complex, and beautiful natural color pattern! The Angelskin Coral is in great condition and is beautifully set int he middle of the stunning gold design.The gold work would of been completely hand crafted by a talented Art Deco gold smith. The design includes a beautiful claw style prong mounting piece with beautiful heart shaped gold designs and a smooth polished surface.The ring is a size 6.5 but can easily be sized by any jeweler.The Angelskin Coral measures 11 mm in diameter.Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
