Antique Vinaigrette Necklace - Carved Mother of Pearl - Micro Mosaic Connector - Pendant Perfume - Vintage Assemblage JewelryThis is a beautiful antique mother of pearl vinaigrette assemblage necklace. Vinaigrette's were popular from the late 18th century through the mid-19th century, used to hold various aromatic substances, usually dissolved in vinegar. A tiny piece of sponge or wool was soaked in the liquid, and placed inside. The brass & carved mother of pearl pendant has a hinged cover that closes well. There is an antique micro mosaic connector and bail. The circular section of the chain is 26 inches to the connector and 4 inches to the end of the pendant. The perfumette measures 1 inch in diameter. A fantastic assemblage piece and a wonderful addition to any vinaigrette collection.
